I bought this clip and the 3 inch version just over a month ago. I've used it maybe 25 times on various light to medium carpentry projects. It worked great initially, so well that it adjusts itself and just turn a screw to change the tension of the clamp pressure. Until he failed. Today I noticed that even after adjusting the tension, it doesn't clamp as tightly as I wanted. Then I noticed a small hairline crack on the part that supposedly holds the handle. So disappointing when it had such great reviews and almost no use. I have other Kreg products and love them. I've used the 3" version, twice the size and higher voltage, and it works well. I hope it lasts. This of course happened 5 days after Amazon's return policy ended, so now I have to contact kreg customer service and try to get them replaced. At nearly $40, I expected it to be more durable. I was considering buying a few more but for now I'll wait and see how the replacement process goes and if the 3" version breaks. I had a self-adjusting grip pliers that failed the same way, but after prolonged use and extremely high pull pressure. but in general this seems to be a disadvantage of self-adjusting clamps/vices compared to using the good old manual adjustments. However, I love the self-adjustment feature and it can really make a world of difference when you need an extra hand. That is, if they don't fail.
