To be honest I rarely used this plate for sharpening knives (more on that in a moment) but more for lapping my lower grit stones. This is undoubtedly a great stone for lapping, but be careful, you can easily use this platter to take away your favorite stones for weeks or even months, don't get carried away. I was the victim of that rock, which chewed up a quarter of a millimeter of Chapton in a jiffy. Very aggressive, great for re-sharpening a knife but leaves very deep sharpening marks that are difficult to remove. My Shapton 120 struggled to remove these scratches but succeeded after a few minutes of struggle. All in all, this is a monster record that can do it all, and fast.
