Review on πŸ–¨οΈ Crisp Cyan Printing Solutions: Brother Printer LC71C Standard Yield Ink by Jim Cox

Cheaper than color but still too expensive

After I bought a Brother printer and realized how quickly you have to change ink cartridges, I started saving them instead of throwing them away. After a while, I found that new cartridges were "empty" at an inconsistent rate. I then bought a black ink refill kit to refill my old ones with, but found out the old ones were 1/3-2/3 full! So I took all the black ink out of the old one and was able to pour another old one without touching the new ink. I've been doing this for almost six months now. There was a video on YouTube (thank goodness on YouTube) on how to refill this Brother cartridge. In it, they used a vise to hold the cartridge, "pumping" one end and filling the other end with new ink. You don't have to. The cartridges come with a green holder that keeps the two white ink ports tightly closed. It has a lever that can be rotated/removed. It works great by holding the top air port while inserting the syringe (included) into the bottom ink port. Warning: you must color very slowly. This allows all air to be pushed out (vented) through the top air port. If you apply too much pressure (inject ink too quickly) the inner seal will break and you'll start leaking ink immediately. This hasn't happened to any of my black used cartridges, but it has happened to the colored counterparts of these cartridges.
