I wouldn't call it "cheap" plastic, but it's definitely not as thick and strong as my 32-ounce Contigo bottle. I wanted to carry something around during class that wouldn't require so many refills. That's great! It took me a while to find a pitcher that wasn't a crazy color or with a silly "You can do this!" on it all lol. The straw is fine, the tape works well. Again nothing special. It would be better if the plastic was thicker or better quality. I bought the pitcher for $20 so I expected it to be a little better. I definitely won't leave it in the car or out in the sun, I'm afraid the plastic will melt.
