I can't figure out why the pump needs an outlet that isn't connected to a garden hose. Do people connect anything else to a submersible pump? Apparently some of these imported pumps are just made for different fittings. The pump works great and isn't too noisy, but it's very difficult to attach to something you can use. Read other reviews. It's very close to a garden hose fitting, but if you pull the hose all the way to the outlet it will strip the threads on your pump's outlet and likely leak. In a pinch I suppose you can use it, but be aware it will eventually damage the threads on the pump outlet. If you connect only one hose, a small amount will come out. I think it doesn't matter if the pump is submerged, but if you try to remove water from an area you won't be able to get it all. Another option might be to just use a regular hose (not a garden hose) with the right ID and a hose clamp. DO NOT purchase the "Superior Pump 99006 Garden Hose Adapter, FIP to 3/4" MIP, Black' that is so commonly purchased with this product as it will NOT connect to this pump (you may use force but again this will damage the threads on your pump. "Barb x 3/4" GHT) for supply pool and sump pumps.I've been able to get this pump to work with no leaks.This adapter will work if you use pipe thread tape to to create a watertight seal between the adapter and the pump..then the garden hose easily connects to the outlet side.The only reason I bought this pump was that it was about half the cost of other submersible pumps and I did thought adapters might be worth the savings.I plan on using this to flush my water heater so I'll be using it about once a year (not draining the pool every few years) so when I will e only use it once a year, the hose will likely last and I don't have to worry about changing the adapter or having to remove and replace it frequently. If getting adapters seems too much of a hassle for you, simply purchase one of the Superior or other brand pumps that come with the correct garden hose fitting and save yourself the hassle. I hope this helps save you some headaches.
