The handles come in two pieces that fit together perfectly once I figure out what goes where. It adheres perfectly to the floor and is very easy to sweep, practically leaving no dirt stains. I'm not sure why so many other reviewers are having trouble with this, unless they just received defective parts, or maybe it's something of a learning curve? I used them when I was young when I worked in a cinema and it's the same as it was then. This dustpan is very strong, beautiful, and heavy, so it doesn't pick up dirt easily when you're sweeping garbage into the bin, and you don't need to apply extra pressure to hold it like you would with regular dustpans. This is a great feature and the basket has a lip that makes it easy to tip the bin over without hitting what was just on the ground. Bonus! If you have lower back or balance issues and can't lean too far to use a regular shovel then this is awesome. move or get in the way by sweeping up the dirt. To unlock it, just step on the trash can to keep it from moving and bend the stick again and it'll pop right back out. it's pretty easy. Also in the broom itself there are two slots where you can insert a pen; one straight up and one at an angle to suit your preferences. Contrary to some other reviews, you can actually store the broom right in the bin - you just move the handle sideways to remove the hooked part and pry it out. Inside. There's even a nice clip that holds the handles together and they stand up nice and straight because the bottom of the bin is nice and flat. And if you place the broom carefully and don't catch all the bristles where they curve back and don't sweep to the side, it won't bend in front of you either. How it actually behaves depends on how you handle it - it's just like any other broom of its kind. To help trash can holder, I find that doesn't work very well for me. However, since it is pretty much the same for all brooms of this type and the few plastic sticks are not exactly suitable for animal fur, it is not worth deducting a star.
