Review on AccessoryBasics Dashboard Platform Detector Beltronics by Josh Whitehead

This thing slides on the dashboard and the velcro melts in the summer heat

If you always go straight and never stop suddenly, it won't slide. If you're driving in city traffic and making a lot of quick stops and turns, this thing will slide back and forth all over the place. You have to drive like a grandma and be VERY careful around corners and stops to keep that thing from slipping. (although he often still moves slightly, even when I try my best to be as gentle as necessary to keep him from moving). You can forget reversals. It slides completely off the dashboard in seconds. I've tried many positions/locations on the dash and it doesn't matter, it slides like crazy in response to corners and stops no matter where. Also, they give you a sticky velcro. to attach your device to the mount. Well, this glue melts instantly at 80-90 F. The solution to this problem may be to buy "heat resistant" or "weather resistant" gorilla tape or velcro instead. Which I'd like to try, but since the whole piece is already sliding across the dash, it doesn't make sense. I suppose you could try taping the whole thing onto the dash but that would likely leave damage. It's better to just go back to using those stupid window vacuums that break after a few years of hot and cold weather. In summary, there are many things that would work in a car if extreme, long-lasting temperatures didn't ruin everything: suction. Mugs, glues, etc. I'm NOT surprised that their standard velcro melts in summer weather. It pisses me off that the platform rattle slides all over the dashboard because the big plus is that it doesn't. The suction cup area adheres perfectly to the rattle. The problems are that the velcro melts in a few hours and the rattle slides all over the dashboard.
