Review on πŸ”Š Enhanced Performance: Stinger SK4641 4 Gauge 4000 Series Car Audio Amplifier Installation Kit by Yiorgos Reynolds

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overall a great set, with one downside (in my opinion)

I bought this to install my new system knowing it would be more than I needed but also plenty of headroom bot. is a 4 gauge tinned oxygen free copper wire. See image for core width. That's right, 4 AWG solid wire is .204 inch in diameter, which is .238 inch stranded wire. What does that mean? This does NOT mean it is oversized. You have to account for the air between strands which I estimate adds 10% diameter to solid core AWG standards for stranded comparisons. Thus, for 4 gauge wire, the stranded wire diameter would be at least 0.224 inch. Obviously he is more. My only complaint about the size of this cable is that nowhere (neither on Revain's own website nor on Stinger's own website) is the core listed. I also tried contacting Stinger customer service with no response. 0.004 inches, but since I didn't know how many lived I couldn't calculate the actual cross-sectional area. Insulation: I was pleased to see how thick the insulation actually was. Although the interior is not entirely smooth and the thickness varies between peaks and valleys (curves in the strand), the thickness at the thinnest point is 0.073 inches. While the thickness offers adequate protection, it also doesn't affect the flexibility of the cable. Cable out of the box: The cable comes pre-assembled with a fuse holder with 18” pre-fuse wire. Both the end of the wire before the fuse and one end of the ground wire came with the slip rings already crimped. This was great for me as I don't have a 4ga terminal crimp and would have to take the ghetto and use a hammer to crimp it. Also note that contrary to what one reviewer might say, pre-cutting the fuse holder won't affect your application. It only cuts to the maximum safe length, you can always cut more if your application allows for a shorter fuse! RCA Cable: More than enough length to meet all your needs. After installation, I have no static electricity or noise from RCA cables. IMO RCA cables are rarely a problem, and you rarely need super-expensive "premium" RCA cables. Conclusion: THEY WORK! Remote control cable: like RCA, it works and is of sufficient length. Fuse Holder: I'm not a big fan of this kit (which is why I saved it for last). It's (like the vast majority of fuse holders available) a cheap plastic construction. The base with screw holes is separate from the mount itself, but roughly attaches with 2mm wide "hooks". There are cutouts in the base for the zip tie used to secure it which I used as a fix because I don't trust its construction. The supplied fuse is fitted with a 150 amp fuse. From all the research I've done, that's too much for a 4ga cable. Most websites (including Crutchfield and BCAE) recommend a maximum of 125 amps. If your application requires more than 125 amps, I highly recommend using a 4+ga cable. I replaced my fuse with a 100 amp fuse as my system only draws 80 amps and I also have secondary fuses after my distribution block. I would recommend this kit to anyone who has a less than 125 amp system. However, I am deducting one star due to the lack of response from customer service and the fuse/fuse holder.
