Review on Winco SS 1211 Sharpening 12 Inch Medium by Melissa Davis

This sharpening stone is extra large, 12" x 2.5" x 1.5" and is the largest stone I currently own. All my other stones are 8" long. While the longer size is fine I have no need for this - my 8" stones were enough for all my grinding needs. This stone was actually a bit difficult to store as it is much larger than my other stones. I have a plastic basket for all of them my stones and this one had to be placed diagonally to fit. I use stones to sharpen knives and woodworking tools. I find the rough side too rough for normal sharpening. Notch and I had to remove a lot of material but use it for everything else I only use the "thin" side. I end up with other stones (1000 to 6000). I would rate it between 200 and 320. My stone came in a box. Five of the eight corners were broken off - not big chunks just a corner (less than 1/8") . If I didn't have my other stones I would probably go with a 400/1000 grit stone instead.
