Review on πŸ“ Stanley Powerlock 33 425 Measuring Tape - 25 Foot for Accurate Measurements by Luis Tuazon

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent value for large quantities and more or less accurate measurements

Good for heavy carpentry/construction work, but what could be better? Good qualities: The band-lock switch is solid, the markings on the band (one inch wide) are clear and easy to read in low light, and there's also a useful marking that shows the length of the bottom edge of the case at 3" (and that is safe. Made in the USA The spring inside is very safe, so the band retracts quickly, which is nice for an impatient worker. The band itself is heavily twisted, so it retains its rigidity for long runs - This is however both a feature and a defect as you have to tilt the edge of the band down to mark the exact length. This model only has imperial markings not metric also this is both a feature and a defect. Flaw: It helps to have consistent markings on both sides, but sometimes you need metric measurements, so in this case you need a combined measurement.. Not very good qualities, although not decisive ident for this price: made of plastic (it's strong and made to look and feel like steel, but it's not!); Tying the ribbon requires a significant amount of effort to securely fasten it. The really annoying problem is that I think the tape locking mechanism is the reverse: the tape should automatically lock at all times, allowing the user to retract the tape at any time. Why do you want it any other way? Why, Stanley, why? Personally, I'd like Stanley to find an inexpensive alternative that toggles these functions and can be packaged together: this, plus another 10-foot inch + metric, with self-locking tape, which is plenty flattering.
