I bought this to combat our overly sensitive and LOUD apartment fire alarms. They go off constantly at the thought of a cast iron prepared meal. I suspect that the building has upgraded the alarm systems because I haven't heard nearly as many dinnertime beeps from our neighbors and I don't think we've had any since I purchased either. But i digress. The fan is well made and sturdy. It does make a nice CLACK sound when you drop it with style (not what I need it for but FYI). It gives off a nice breeze! It'll definitely do the trick when needed and will be so much easier on my arms that flailing/swinging pillows and folded up cardboard boxes at the high ceilings when our cooking triggers the alarm again.
