I replaced a non-working Fujitsu Scansnap with this Canon R40 on my Mac. The software offered is easy to use and set up and very flexible. I was able to link to a DevonTHINK document and with one touch of the scanner the images are scanned and sent straight to the DevonTHINK inbox. Images are razor sharp and the problems I had with the Scansnap, multi-page feeds and jams (constantly) haven't happened with the R40. Win.This is a quality scanner at a great price. If in doubt I would buy it. The downside is that it's slow. Everywhere, everywhere, everywhere. Press the button to scan. Wait. The software starts. Wait. Pages begin to crawl. Slow. Scan complete. Wait etc. Everything in the UI seems slow. If you need the speed of the scanner, you need to turn off all auto-detect settings and just let it work with hard and fast pages. If you need auto gap detection, auto page rotation, auto color detection, etc., the speed is MUCH slower. Path.
