We thought it was broken when we first used it because turning it on is not very intuitive. First you have to push down the tiny little black button switch, then give it one shake. That turns the fan on. After that it's just raucous fun. Hold it with the "on button" facing up, then tilt it very slightly in the direction you want it to go. Keep it in that orientation as you throw/push it away. You can make it come back to you, travel straight across the room, or go around corners. The light show is cool too. The cage around the fan is made from a springy plastic, which so far has prevented it from getting broken when hitting walls and the floor, but also doesn't seem to mark up the walls either which is very much appreciated! Very impressed. Only down side is the battery doesn't last that long, maybe 5-10 mins, but it's rechargeable and took about 20-30 mins to recharge. The box it arrived in looks a bit tacky and inexpensive, but the device itself has survived plenty of drops and collisions and is still going strong.
