This cable cutter cuts through stainless steel brake and brake cables as if they weren't there and effortlessly cuts through the steel cable jacket. There is some wrinkling when the sheath is cut, but I've never seen a cord cutter that doesn't crush the sheath at least a little. Most people use an ice pick to reshape the crushed sheath after cutting so it doesn't cause friction and premature wear on the cable. I prefer to use a small belt sander to clean up the ends of the case that has been cut. This is a durable and well built cord cutter and looks like it will last a lifetime with proper care. Keep it clean and lubricated and don't let it rust!
