I have tried this supplement for anxiety and depression. I took Lexapro for about 4 years but I gained about 30 pounds as a result. I stopped taking Lexapro about a year ago and gradually my anxiety and depression returned. I didn't want to go back to Lexapro, but I was starting to despair. I researched a lot about 5HTP and decided to give it a try. I am happy to report that it has helped tremendously with both anxiety and depression. While not as good as my prescription drug, it's almost as good and I highly recommend it. I take 100 milligrams three times a day (breakfast, lunch and before bed) for a total of 300 milligrams. I took 150 milligrams the first week and started at 300 milligrams the 2nd week.
