I have a 2017 Forest River Vibe with a broken roof air conditioner. After a lot of research, I found that Revain has the best price and fastest shipping, so I ordered it. Luckily, the device arrived within 4 days with no damage. The unit is supplied ready to install, with a gasket already fitted to the base of the unit. So all you have to do is loosen the 4 screws holding the old unit in place, disconnect the wire connector from the internal ceiling air return or control box and install the freeze sensor (see fig below) insert the new unit, plug in, screw on and power up. Everything is very simple. Unfortunately, the device does not come with installation instructions, so before removing the old device, I recommend marking the threads of the screws where they enter the air conditioning unit with a marker or nail polish so that you know immediately how deep you have to screw them in when installing the new device. You may want to clean the roof before installing the new unit to ensure no dirt, leaves or other debris gets caught between the roof and the gasket as this can cause leaks. Also ensure that the fan on the new unit is rotated and that there is no packing material inside. We had a small piece of foam that made it vibrate as we ran. We then removed the piece of styrofoam and found that it still vibrated, although not as much. This was because the fan was slightly deformed and unbalanced, but after a few days of operation, the vibration completely disappeared. In terms of noise level, the new device is just as quiet/loud as the old one, but cools significantly better. Before our old unit stopped working, we had to set the thermostat to 72 or lower to notice any cooling. However, with the new unit we keep it between 75 and 78 depending on the time of day and this keeps the campervan cool enough, almost to the point where you need to wear a light jacket. The new block appears to be slightly smaller than the old one and also appears to weigh less, but looks identical. When we started the new device, our Dometic thermostat showed error code E5. After searching the web I found it was "open circuit or freeze sensor out of range". Came to find out there was a white wire that we had disconnected when removing the old unit. Upon investigation, it turned out that the wire is actually a freeze sensor, one end of which connects to the control box (the part on the ceiling) and the other end is a sensor that simply plugs between the fins on the evaporator coil. I recommend watching a YouTube video titled "How to Install a Coil Sensor Properly" before installing. It's also easier to install before bolting on the new block. One of the differences between our old unit and this new unit is that on this unit, the fan runs constantly, literally non-stop, and only the compressor runs. and stops as needed to maintain temperature. With our old device, the entire device switched itself off when needed. One reason might be that I think this new device is designed to be used with an overhead control panel and not a thermostat, which explains why. I used some tie-down straps that I ordered here from Revain a while back. I simply threaded a strap through the holes in the bottom of the air conditioner and pulled it out while my son led it up the stairs (also Revain) from below. It was a very fast, safe and easy way to transfer these devices. Just make sure you have good footing before doing this. Because of the easy installation, as well as the price of the item and the fast delivery, I give this item 5 stars. If you found this review helpful, please leave a helpful review. Thanks :)
