It's smaller than expected but that's not really a problem - it's slightly larger than a coffee mug. It just doesn't cool as much with water. It says to pour water into the "funnel" which is a square above the filter - DON'T DO THIS! The water flows into the filter and out the front of the machine, and since you're looking out the tank window you won't notice it until it asks what it's sitting on. Take out the entire filter to fill the water tank and if you want cooler air, add a few ice cubes. I bought a couple of silicone ice cube trays that make about 1/2 inch cubes that fit perfectly in the tank. My apartment doesn't have air conditioning and it fits perfectly on the windowsill next to my bed. With ice in it at high speed (quite noisy) it cooled my room from 93 to 80 in about 4 hours (it arrived on one of the hottest days of the year). Let's see how well he does it. Summer.
