Just in case this helps someone, I've been trying to use the Cable Matters adapter with a Dell Precision T1500 graphics card and an Nvidia Quadro NVS 295 (with two DP connections). I made sure that this adapter does not display video until the operating system boots up (in this case Windows 8.1). the main display, which allows you to view the splash screen/POST results/initial prompts, and retained Cable Matters adapters for machines that will have a secondary display. They appear to be well built and well packaged with protection for the DP end.
