I bought these to use when riding my jet ski in colder weather so I can't confirm their effectiveness for long cold water immersion, but if you like cold weather watersports (and I used them at 28 degrees outside temperature and a speed of over 110 km/h on the water), they will be just right for you. I use them in combination with a dry suit and I'm sure I'll be comfortable in cold weather. The construction and materials of these gloves allow them to be thin enough to keep your hands flexible and can be used even when you need dexterity, but the materials will keep you warm even in windy conditions. They work much better than thicker gloves to keep the blood flowing in my hands. In fact, I've even taken them and used them for out of water activities. I also enjoy quad biking and have worn the thickest, softest gloves I could to keep warm while riding, but I've always been disappointed. I replaced them with these gloves as they keep me warm and I still have much better grip and gas. I've also used them during winter storms when clearing snow from my driveway. Again, they kept me warm and provided great dexterity and sensitivity in my hands. If you can't tell, I really do care, and my biggest gripe with gloves is the loss of the ability to use your hands with precision. This is prevented!
