I have almost complete bilateral hearing loss from ear infections. Since it is hopefully temporary, I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on hearing aids. I have been using this product for about 6 weeks & am pretty satisfied. Yes, it is an AMPLIFIER so ALL sounds are louder. In very noisy places that can be painful. But I quickly learned how to use the volume controls which are easily accessed. This would not be something to be used all the time if you need hearing aids, but has definitely saved my sanity during my illness!
