I bought this mat to use under a freestanding punching bag to keep it in place. It didn't work, but I can deal with it. The smell of this carpet is disgusting. Smells like a sports car that just made donuts in my living room. The burnt rubber smell is all I can equate it with. I really thought there was something on fire. I went to each outlet/switch and fumbled around to make sure they were warm. I checked the socket. I checked everything I could think of that could be causing the smell of smoke and burning. I feel stupid it took me so long to figure this out. I just took a step back and wondered what was different than what could have caused that smell. Then I saw the carpet. I took it outside and aired the room. This lasted a few days. That thing is in the trash right now. If you use it outdoors, wherever there's a breeze, and away from anyone or anything with a nose, you might be fine.
