WARNING STORY. Paper & Plastic

These are green, biodegradable bin liners. New York now requires that food waste, leaves or yard waste be placed in these bags to indicate to sanitation workers that this garbage should be used as compost. While there are no issues with leaves or yard waste in these bags, they are when it comes to food waste, so I don't bother with these bags, although I understand and agree with the need to use them. The bags are biodegradable, if for some reason the food is in there for a long period of time the food will somehow start eating through the bag causing the bag to leak. So you have to be careful. To avoid clutter, I now line my kitchen trash can with a regular plastic bag, and then put this green biodegradable bag in it. When it's filled with food waste and I'm ready to dispose of it, I put it in another green biodegradable bag that actually folds in half, avoiding messy leaks and spills due to the decomposition of the original biodegradable bag. Then I tie it up and take it out for hygiene. Problem solved.
