The magnet may seem strong at first, but once you've actually attached the phone to it, it's not quite so. I tried using both the metal plate that came with the kit (inside and outside the very thin gel case) and the case I bought which had a very thick good sized metal plate built into it. I've used all the suggested suggestions and my phone is by no means a heavy phone, especially considering the phones that the description says work (which are a lot bigger/heavier than mine). The phone falls off every time I drive, especially when turning (which I do very gently, so it's not user error). I love the design of this mount and think it fits well on the lightest phone and probably should only be recommended for the lightest phone here. Overall, this is a good product, but the description is very misleading, suggesting that it will work with a wide range of phones, although it will most likely only work with a phone the size of the first few iPhone models, or even the first few models. Galaxy models. I would NOT put a large phone on it, let alone an expensive one. This lands on your floor or back seat every time. If you're lucky like me, it doesn't even make it into the back seat, hitting the center console and smashing your screen. Thank goodness in my case I had a broken protective film instead of a genuine NEW pane. Brave effort, but not quite up to par.
