Shockingly bad performance, benchmarks so bad compared to a bad SSD

A solid gaming system was built for me, but the weak point was the PNY SSD, which is 512 GB was and was one of the worst SSDs in its class and performance. It was SATA III and I used professional testing software to compare my drive's performance to over 100 other drives, ranging from SSDs to hybrid drives to traditional drives. Ideally, I wanted to upgrade to a 1TB drive and replace my inexpensive SSD, which was the weakest benchmark on my system, with something that would give me extra space and better performance. I read somewhere on a gaming forum that the Firecuda hybrid drive works great. It was on sale and I pulled the trigger. I had no problem cloning my drive and resizing partition and booting my system from my new drive which had everything, all my files, Windows 10. But I noticed something disturbing at startup, it took about 8 times longer for Windows to boot up. Then there was lag with everything, including the graphics card issues (I have a screeching GPU), but now I had lag when clicking windows, loading pages, etc. It behaved like the old hard drives I swore by , never to return them. Just in case, I ran my tests again. This drive (connected to the same cable as the old SSD) performed so poorly that it didn't register in the percentile comparison. Now I'm not sure if a special driver or partition is required to make this drive the to get it running) Right, but I don't care, after watching it it had a MUCH slower transfer rate, and the HD part of the drive was only 5400 rpm, not 7200? Not 10000? Yuk. Never again

Pros
  • Affordability
Cons
  • Actually, I don't like it, everything is fine
