bad scaling function <<<And>>>no HDMI output; Camera 4 months old

The reason I bought this particular camera is the XLR inputs. I've used condenser mics and output sound from digital and analog mixers with great success. Sounds good. But some aspects of VIDEO are seriously lacking in this camera. Ironically, even for a Zoom camcorder, the zoom feature is pretty weak. It has 5 fixed positions, from close-up to wide-angle. It is suitable for musical performances when you need a camera close to the performers. At a distance of more than 15 feet, it seems that you are many miles away, even with the maximum magnification of perspective. But the biggest bummer is the HDMI output. It broke after only 4 months and probably less than 10 times via the HDMI output. I paid attention to a strain relief so that there is no pressure on the port. I would recommend a better camera that allows for a fully customizable zoom feature that allows for much larger zooms with a mic jack and at least one HDMI mini out. , NOT MICRO. Mini-HDMI looks just like the full-size Type-A HDMI port we see on home theater devices. I use a Canon HF R800 and am impressed so far. And add the possibility of high-quality sound: Saramonic SR-PAX2. The camera is mounted at the top, the tripod at the bottom. 9V battery power provides an LCD screen for level control, plus 48V phantom power for 2 condenser mics and several different ways to feed it a signal. 3.5mm output for TRS cable from SR-PAX2 to camera microphone input. Sounds good. The only downside is that 9V has to be controlled and you have to chew batteries regularly. It's worth it for the sound it delivers. Verdict: If you're not using the Q8's zoom for the HDMI output, and you're okay with the camera's field of view being limited to 15 feet and a maximum resolution of 1080, it's great for its ability to capture great sound and a decent picture. If you're using it for HDMI output, I don't recommend it.
