Totally useless - kitchen and dining room

I bought two of these and they don't sync to the bases 90% of the time. When they sync, they don't register any temperature changes at all. They are completely useless in every way. In addition, they are very cheaply made. The plastic body feels flimsy, and the base is so light and cheap you just have to twist the wire to knock it over. To install or reinstall the batteries, 4 small screws must be removed. It's cumbersome and you risk losing the screw. There is a thin rubber gasket where the cover meets the battery compartment. This seal pops out and can easily be lost or damaged. Overall, this is a poorly designed product that performs unreliably. I also have an Oregon Scientific AW131. It works very well and has a long wireless range. For about the same price, it has more features, a better design, and it actually works. My advice: buy an Oregon Scientific AW131 and forget about that Maverick thermometer. Oregon Scientific AW131 Grill Right Cordless Talking Grill Oven/Thermometer
