It is usually quite cool in my house and the water in my aquarium can drop to 60 degrees. I discovered this when my first heater failed and there were no indicator lights to tell me if it was on or off. My fish were fine waiting for this to surface, but the minimum temp for what I keep is 76F, so they weren't as active as usual. After installing this heater the water was back to 77F within 10 minutes and my fish were back to their happy and active state. I like the bright temperature display and the lack of batteries! I also like being able to set myself to a specific temperature and the indicator light telling you it's working is something I'll never take for granted. Highly recommended!
