I find this optic very practical. I'm not at all careful with my electronics and I'm very clumsy by nature, which leads to sloppiness with such devices. So durability is the quality I think is most important and this product lives up to my standards (which I think says a lot as meeting my standards is often impossible - I want to be able to put electronics out of service). against a brick wall and I know they're safe.) I'm a scientist and I need to back up my data regularly, and the hard drive they give me at work looks and feels very fragile to say the least. I bought it almost two years ago on a friend's recommendation to use as a backup for my current scratch disk and have had no problems. I ended up using it as my main external device as it is very easy to use and has a bunch of great features. What I like best is that the cable attaches to the hard drive itself, making it difficult to store and easy to transport. I can toss it in my backpack and not worry about it. If you're looking for a durable hard drive and don't want to spend a lot of money on an SSD, this is for you. As an Amazon customer, I constantly read the most critical reviews and I keep wishing that the product would solve exactly these problems from another reviewer I like, which is why I would like to do it here. The main issue I see in critical reviews is that the cable may be defective. I didn't have the issues other reviewers wrote about. This company has a great business practice and I have seen them respond directly to these reviews and offer a new hard drive under warranty. Another problem I've read about is that it stops working spontaneously. That's true of any brand of hard drive—none is perfect, and hard drives don't always last—this is the nature of hard drives in general (and why it's wise to keep backups of your backups). However, some brands are more successful than others. Knowing this, I have thoroughly researched all the hard drives available at Revain (and elsewhere) and I think this hard drive compares to the best and most expensive. Anyone looking for a strong, durable and easy-to-carry external hard drive.
