SO. I originally got this brace directly from my podiatrist for my severe Achilles tendonitis. By this point I had tried just about every type of braces I could get my hands on, some of which were even sourced direct from the podiatrist. If the brace doesn't fit or is too difficult to put on, it's useless. I have a mental illness and it has been difficult for me to find the energy and motivation to wear something every day and wear it all day. if you don't like it, you won't use it at all. It was hard putting on all of my braces until this brace came into my life. Most suspenders of the same style are fully laced, requiring you to abruptly unlace the laces to get your foot in, and sometimes you need to re-lace the top half to put them on. It can become obsolete very quickly if you have to wear it on a daily basis. On the other hand, Speed Pro Brace is very easy to use. There are a few steps, but they're done so quickly, probably about 10 seconds to put on, if that. Instead of being relaced every time, the laces are split into two Velcro straps so they can be pulled and attached to the side Velcro strips. The figure eight straps then attach to the side Velcro and then to the final top band around the ankle for added stability. It's very easy and fast and I love it! Overall things that could change: - The plastic D-rings through which the lacing runs could be better. There have been times when a shoe or bandage was misaligned and the D-rings hit a pressure point on my foot - no fun, but once you roll them out and adjust them you're good to go with your day. I don't know if a stronger and less stiff material could be used instead, or if lowering the profile would help. one of I can't even remember how long I've been using it, but I wear it at least 40 hours a week and it's been a few months, 3-5 months I think. I work in an office so I walk more, stand etc. Where the D-rings attach to the lacing is a stabilization product which I believe is a plastic strap as the sides parallel the leg at my ankle have removable plastic stabilizing strips, almost like a book stamp. Lace stability has changed from flat to wavy. Since I've been wearing the orthosis for so long and so often, I'm not surprised. So I ordered it directly from Amazon and not through my podiatrist. It arrived this morning and it looks and works just like my first one. BUT there is a difference. The upper laces appear to be shorter than my first version. I'm not sure if this was an updated feature of my original braces or a second one I got. it still works the same and the laces can stretch. I'm not sure if I have a defective product or not but I did make sure I got the correct corset size so who knows. This is my favorite ankle brace compared to all the others I have tried in my 29 years of life. I played sports, hiked, and didn't take proper care of physical injuries when I was young. I'm getting custom braces through my pod, but my current ones won't last another 2-3 weeks while it's being processed and shipped. I had a not so good funeral for the first one yesterday as I bought a second one expedited shipping. I've honestly told my podiatrist that I want something like the Speed Pro but with more durability and tailored to my foot. I will praise this brace every time someone asks about ankle braces. I also recommend Crocs. I'm in the crowd that finds crocs ugly, but the combination of bandage, crocs, and homemade ankle exercises reduced my pain to 2-3 pain levels a day instead of 9. Great. Improvement! If you're not a fan of crocodile leather, wear loose-fitting tennis shoes, narrower shoes will make it a bit more difficult to get your foot up and down.
