Review on πŸ’ͺ Juiced Systems VertexHUB: Next-Gen USB-C 10 Gbps Data and Power Hub - USB 3.2 Gen 2 Compatible by Ruben Saunders

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It might seem pricey, but it does the job and offers something that next to nothing offers.

Short version: Works as advertised and gives you six additional USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 2 10Mbps Plus ports and all ports deliver advertised throughput. It's nice that it includes both Type-A and Type-C ports as this offers maximum flexibility for new devices and legacy devices alike. Like any USB hub, it doesn't need to be plugged in, it's safer to leave it plugged in whenever possible. Long version: I connected two of these to my Mac Mini so I can connect 4 external hard drive enclosures at the same time. I've run speed tests with drives plugged directly into my Mac, as well as this intermediate state and with a setting that can maximize USB 3.1 Gen 2 bandwidth, there's no difference in performance with a hub installed. . You'll read complaints that (1) it's expensive (2) it doesn't work with this device. My answers are pretty simple: 1. It's not expensive for what it does. It offers 7 USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports that can work simultaneously and run at full speed at the same time. At the moment (January 2020) I cannot find any other similar product on the market. Compare that to a Thunderbolt device and it's very cheap. Of course, you don't have to plug it in for it to work, but like any USB hub, it works better if you do. So connect.

Pros
  • Excellent value for money
Cons
  • Very expensive
