Just received this today and had a loaf of bread in the oven while waiting for UPS delivery. Once I could handle the hot bread, I cut off my first piece. Perfectly straight and almost easy to use. When you press on the back of the loaf to slice the bread, the entire contraption simply slides over the counter. A big problem. But I have a large wooden cutting board with a border on three sides, so I put a guide in it and made another cut. It worked well and stayed on the counter. I didn't find it too thin. It takes several cuts to find the right slots to get the desired width.
