My service dog (in training) is very sensitive to noise and after a bad trip to the grocery store which involved an exploded meat cooler next to the freezer aisle, a long loud overhead announcement and a very unhappy dog, I knew I had to do something to help. I didn't want to spend $50 on Mutt Muffs for the grocery store, so I ordered this. This works very well. I just needed something to block out ambient noise, and while it allows me to hear perfectly (yes, I put it on my head to check), my service dog's noise tolerance increased dramatically. Today he took a three-hour trip to IKEA AND a trip to Home Depot -- both loud, boomy, and scary places -- with his tail between his legs. He doesn't try to shake it off or look away when I hold it out to him. It slips off his head easier than I'd hoped - I had to adjust it five or six times in three hours - but I wouldn't make him uncomfortable. He also didn't seem to be overheating at all since he wasn't out of breath, and his ears and head felt a little warmer when I checked. It really grabs and holds the hair in the terrycloth fibers which is annoying but I carry a lint roller anyway.
