I bought this product not only to keep track of my personal belongings but also to deter potential thieves. I've just moved into an apartment with a roommate and although I trust him, he allows some of HIS friends to stay in the apartment while he's away. Not cool. Since he refuses to tell me about it, and for my own peace of mind, I bought this device. I give it 3-3.5 stars out of 5 why: POWERED - it should stay plugged in at all. times and has no alternative source of energy (e.g. batteries). If the power goes out, the camera will not work.; WIFI connection REQUIRED - for this unit to work at all times. If you're like me then you're rarely at home and you don't have to pay for internet services when you can connect all devices via your phone's hotspot. Now I pay for internet services just to have security, but I don't like doing it. However, if the power outage is brief or the device loses internet connection for some other reason, you will need to reconnect. That's why I deducted more points. But if you can manage to keep this device powered on and connected, it's a great security device. Night vision isn't the best quality, but it does the job. Equipped with a motion detection function, this camera also starts capturing and recording video clips when motion is detected. A notification is sent immediately and video recordings are available so I can see what's going on in real time. The picture quality is pretty good and the two-way microphone lets you hear your voice loud and clear when addressing an intruder. Good product but as there is no alternative/backup power supply which means a higher chance of failure and therefore less confidence and peace of mind AND requires a wi-fi network for the unit to do some of its work I have to give this product a go 3. 5 points. of 5.
