I bought this for my Canon LBP 6030w because it ran out of ink. It took much longer than expected for the ink to finish. Once this happened, I tried to install it according to the user guide until I got to step 4. It looked like it was missing the protective cover. This was slightly related to the fact that, as they say, "do not touch the roller after removing the cover". However, since it was carefully wrapped in shrink wrap and foam, I followed the rest of the instructions and installed it. Unfortunately this didn't work and I couldn't return it as the return period had expired. It has a 2 year guarantee so I will continue to use it. I don't know if that's the case for everyone or if I just didn't get it right.
