Came in Asian packaging with "Mr Aqua" written in English, totally inconsistent with the real TOM packaging. However, it still works. It took about 20 minutes to fine-tune, but the surface foam was completely gone after 5 minutes of the tuning process. Forget floating the cup, that wouldn't work for me. Glue or block it to keep it from moving and position the entire block so that about 1/4 inch of the slots are below the surface and the water gets in. Then use the screw to adjust the offset, making sure the water at the top is just below the bottom of the cup in the neck of the tube. You may suck some air into the filter during this process, but if you do it right after that you should be fine. . Make sure you turn your filter off during a water change so it's not sucking in air, and make sure it's properly positioned before turning the filter back on. As the filter gets clogged and then cleaned, you will probably have to adjust it to compensate. something cheap, it does the job. If you want something simple, treat yourself to the Eheim standalone surface skimmer. I'll probably put one of these on the hour timer when setting up my 150 gallon paludarium, not worth fighting with while on the stairs with the tank only half full.
