REVISION 9/23/2020 - 1 hour laterThe solution below failed. A half amp power supply does not cut it, I now have a 5A power supply I used for an old router that seems to power it just fine (on TX side). That said, I'm checking periodically to make sure something is not getting too hot. It is more stable now, no intermittent operation.REVISION 9/23/2020So, reading for another similar product, I tried putting a power supply on BOTH ends, it now works. I had tried to move the power supply from TX to RX with no luck. Now powered on both ends it seems to work, though the RX end was getting hot and my video would disappear every now and then. Then, I used the 2nd power supply I used from another device on the original end, everything seems to be working for now. I think POE (or as they call it POC) is needed in some cases, I would rather have a power supply on each side for reliability. It is still intermittent but so far OK as I'm just using for a 2nd surveillance monitor, Should have come with 2 powers supplies and have the ability switch of POE, as the RX end was HOT when I had both plugged in.As stated originally, would NOT recommend for long term use,Original:This worked very well for me when I installed it on a surveillance system. In fact, worked so well I purchased another for the same purpose at another location. However, one of them died a few days ago. Definitely the RX end. As soon as I unplug RJ45 from TX side, data light starts blinking. Plug it back in, goes dead. Tried a different POE cable, same result. For long term use, no, I would not recommend the product.
