Actually I couldn't decide between the Garmin Nuvi 255w or the 750 so I decided to buy both to compare. I pinned them both to the windshield of my car and gave them different addresses so they could find each other. I found that both models follow the same route, announcing upcoming turns and street names almost simultaneously. One thing I noticed about the 255w was that it updated my road position more frequently, I would say about three times as often as the 750. This made for smoother graphics on the 255w of a car driving on mapped roads where the The 750's display was rather "nervous". I also found the 255w's display to be slightly brighter, sharper and brighter. than 750 day and night. Another feature I love about the 255w is the graphic turn signal in the top left corner which the 750 doesn't have. It's a small arrow that shows the upcoming turns and the distance to that turn. It also shows things like where the road forks (i.e. the Y junction) and which fork you will take. The 750 simply displays text on the top line for upcoming turns with no arrow. It's just a small additional feature of the 255w that I really liked. The Model 255 also automatically adjusts the font size of the displayed text to fit even long text. Another feature of the 255w is the display of the published road speed limit, you are currently at, directly above the currently displayed speed. I discovered that I don't even look at my car's speedometer because I could see my current speed and the speed limit on my route at a glance. The 750 does not have this feature. I also like how they moved the 255w's up (+) and down (-) buttons to the same side of the screen, making it a bit easier. On the 750, the zoom buttons are on opposite sides of the screen. The 750 now has some features that the 255w doesn't have. The 750 can stream its audio through the FM radio using the included cigarette lighter cable and has a headphone jack which I found handy. The 750 also has an MP3 player and audio book player, which the 255w doesn't have. Another really nice feature of the 750 is vehicle tracking. This is a great feature when you are parking in a very large lot. for example in an amusement park or at a trade fair. The 750 marks your location when you take it out of the car, then take it with you and it remembers where you parked and takes you right back to the car. The 255w does not have an autolocator. I also found the 750's voice prompts sounded better than the 255w's. The 750 sounds more like a real woman's voice, while the 255w sounds more robotic. Another thing to consider is that I paid $50 less for the 750 and it came with an FM transmitter cable and a USB cable to connect to a computer for updates. and downloads. My final decision was keeping the 255w and bringing back the 750 because I really liked the graphic turn signals as well as the displayed speed limit and current speedometers. I didn't find the 750's MP3 player and audio book player necessary, but that comes down to personal preference. Since the USB cable didn't come with the 255W, I bought it from this site for $10. I also intend to purchase the MSN Direct Cable when it becomes available in August 2008. Since the USB cable didn't come with the 255W, I bought it from this site for $10.
