an absolutely eye-catching deal for a monster hammer.

I'm not a blacksmith but I wanted a good heavy hammer for breaking scrap and this thing is great. The brick and everything related to it has not come loose or broken off, the head has an ideal hardness so as not to scratch or dent, but also not to chip off a piece. The only criticism is that the handle is painted. Which is TERRIBLE. I hate that it's so common, it's just a useless extra expense for the manufacturer and a hassle for me to remove. It's no big deal, a random orbital sander, razor or just hand sanding with 60 grit sandpaper and then 120 grit will remove it in minutes but why put it on these things? It makes sense in a hardware store where 500 people take a tool before they buy it and polishing keeps their hands from getting dirty, but this tool is designed to get dirty and part of what makes a tool great , is the patina of it. . your hands. Also if it is used in a slippery, wet or oily environment, the varnish makes it unsafely slippery. You have to polish it. The grip is also clearly built for the price, and I prefer a slightly meatier palm, but once the polish was removed it felt nice. A must-have when you need to smash something but a proper sledgehammer would be a stupid idea (banging on rusty brake drums is the thing's forte) or when you're running out of nails and need to drive a concrete screw into a two-by-quarter one blow. It will.

Pros
  • Hardened Edge and Cross
Cons
  • Some bugs
