We had a great time with this kit. Neither of us had ever dyed ties before, so it was a new adventure. We did it outside but it even came with a plastic tablecloth. It's a very thin plastic so some colors show through, but it did a good job of making it less messy than expected. You also get a pair of plastic gloves and our hands were perfectly clean by the time we finished. The set has every color we could wish for, plus a few. You are given small plastic spoons to measure out the dry paint and then funnels to bottle it neatly. They even have pre-printed bottle labels so you can keep track of what color you just made. We were ready to go! The guide includes steps to achieve specific color effects. We've used a few of them and they definitely worked. There is enough dye in the bottles so you can use each color for multiple shirts. The only thing you might need are plastic bags to store the shirts after dyeing. We had a few liter freezer bags on hand and they worked great. When we rinsed the t-shirts after 24 hours, the color had barely washed off and they kept their color. We made 6 shirts that day and we still have colors we haven't even used yet plus leftovers. The box is high enough that you can store the bottles standing up until next time. Highly recommend as a fun family activity!
