Very cool processor from Computer Components

I switched from the Q6600 to this processor and I'll tell you the difference is amazing. Even when this chip is under load when rendering video in Sony Vegas, my computer responds very quickly. I'm running it at default speeds for now just to test it. This processor is powerful enough to play almost any of the most demanding emulated games (LLE Tales of Symphonia and Zone of the Enders Sound) at playable frame rates. . If you're thinking about getting a 3960X, DON'T! It has very little performance gain for almost twice the price, stick with it. An interesting fact, although this and the 60X were originally 8-core processors. Intel disabled two cores for some reason, likely because AMD isn't pressuring them to compete. I don't know if this is possible, but Intel might include them in the future (hope they do anyway). This chip can handle almost anything you throw at it, and it'll do so at reasonable temperatures. With the Corsair H100, it reaches a maximum temperature of 58°C under full load and 26 to 30°C when idling. It has tremendous overclocking potential, the highest stable frequency I read was 4.75GHz; Some reached 5GHz but not stable.

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • Makes me angry
