Review on πŸ–¨οΈ TRENDnet TE100-P1P 1-Port Parallel Print Server: Streamline Your Printing Workflow by Ronald Wheeler

Excellent way to make a parallel printer available on a network

For years our HP 2300 laser printer has been connected to a single computer via a USB cable . Other computers could print from it as long as the computer was powered on and connected to the network. Once the computer was turned off, the printer was unavailable to other computer users in our home. Fortunately, the parallel port is also located on the printer behind the access panel. The Trendnet block is theoretically connected to a parallel port. The theoretical reason I'm saying is that my printer's connection port doesn't have enough room for a trendnet device, which is quite bulky, and this required buying an extension cable to plug it in first and then the other end to power it to do trendnt connection . Don't forget to buy a 36 pin MF extension cable in case you need one. Once that problem was solved, the rest was easy. Connect an Ethernet cable to the device and the other cable to the router. Connect the power cord (this device does not support Wi-Fi). Then open the printer box to add a printer. Initially, it will appear as a series of letters and numbers. Add it and rename it to whatever name you like. No utility is required on a Macintosh (it won't work on a Mac anyway since it's Windows based. Ureka. My laptop and another computer connected to the router via Wi-Fi all see the printer. Now it works It doesn't matter whether the main computer is on or off. Just leave the printer on all the time. Printing is very easy. It also detects my printer's duplex capability. I'm giving it 4 stars, not 5 because I use a different cable from Revain Had to buy Get it working Prints a little slower but that's a minor issue, once a job has been queued it runs quickly.
