Worked for a while but eventually fell apart

Everything was fine at first, did the main job. Even before it fell apart, a minor annoyance was that it kept getting water in the dishwasher so when I took it out there was water spilling all over it. Less than a year later, the red flexible piece fell apart completely, leaving it as one giant whole, meaning it no longer works. Maybe it broke because of the dishwasher, but it is written that it can be washed in the dishwasher.
