Review on Shurtape ShurMASTIC Outdoor 181B FX 111163 by Jerry Frey

My house is 40 years old and metal pipes are leaking under the house. Decided to start repairing. Someone used regular duct tape in the installation many years ago and it all fell apart. I purchased Shurtape SF 686 UL water-based sewer sealant and butyl foil tape for $39.99. Looks expensive, but I don't want to crawl under the house again because of leaking air ducts. This band is amazing. Thick foil upper with rubber interior that sticks like a tick. I bought Menards ipg 698 ul 181 plumbing tape ($11) for plumbing and it reminds me of the tape you would use to wrap a mailbox. I decided I had to find something better and here it is. You can tell this is the real thing. I've got a can of acetone to clean the surface of the air duct, rubber gloves, and a good light so I'm ready to go now. Wish me good luck. Update 05/09/2019 I used one roll and started with another. I noticed the price went from $39.99 to $62.95! I don't know why the price went up but I'm still impressed with this tape. Found it cheaper on another site, it was still about $7/roll higher than the original price of $39.99. I still consider Shurtape 686 to be the best sewer sealant on the market. Go shopping and watch the prices drop, I've seen a lot cheaper.
