Read before you buy!

WOOD: These are typical mass-produced clothespins. The wood varies from pin to pin, but all of mine have worked well. Some of them seem a bit rushed, but since I bought them for "adult use" I made sure to run my fingers through the holes in each one. There are no shards here. One (out of 50) had a tear in his back. However, I just snapped off the smaller side and it works fine. SPRING: Springs are offset in some cases so they don't sit perfectly flush. You can close them more carefully if that bothers you. However, none of mine fell apart or slipped, and I honestly have no idea how they would have if you hadn't forced them. Neither feather had any sharp edges sticking out the other side (maybe one of the other reviewers had a bad batch). They're about the size of a clothespin, no more, no less, and they open about that wide (half an inch or so). I suppose they hold up well as they hurt like the word to describe your mother in law (rhymes with itch) when I played with them. All in all I would definitely buy them again! Tip: If you use small hair ties for children's hair at the back, you can adjust the bend. Just add one or two for less oh more mmmmm. Or you can do the same with the opposite side to add pressure and really get your point across. Oh, and I heard clothespins are great for storing your towels too. Find out.
