Overall this is a great device. All you have to do is attach the legs, which are attached to each leg with two screws. I have the smallest version, so no remote, just two toggle switches and a dial on the side. Control wheel for heating, toggle switch for fans and flame. You can activate them yourself. A few hits on him. Despite being compact, it is a bit noisy. You get used to it and set it up, but I have it next to the TV so it takes a second to turn it off. The second knock is that I turned the dial all the way up and the heat is pretty warm for the first 10 minutes or so, but then it really cools down. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but after a while it blows warm air. I have this in my small basement, maybe 300 square feet, and I need it to keep the room consistently warm. The warmth it radiates is unimpressive. So if you are unsure I would say rate one and live with it. In general, given the price and compactness, I recommend.
