I have had several sharpeners of this type. name brands. Some people don't care about them; They're no harder on your blade than any other type, however, as long as you have a light touch and let the tool do its job. So you can feel exactly what they are doing. They also deliver quick results, whether it's a blade repair or just a touch-up after regular use. Obviously I prefer them, but I've never found one that gives me the edge I've been looking for. So far! I don't know if this edge can form at a different angle, just makes it better, both or something. The sharpened blade has a nice, slightly aggressive cutting angle with just the right edge structure to cut readily. Very beautiful! Between home and the store I had three sharpeners of this style before ordering this one. I love this one so much I've ordered two more to receive this afternoon. I completely replace sharpeners of old brands.
