After thinking they might be too big I found they were the perfect size for both use and looks. Each, when full, would contain a cup (yes, a full 1-cup measure) of salt/pepper. They are a beautiful green color with salt and pepper embossing in the style of the 1930's Great Depression era, as in the photo. They clean well and contrary to what others have said, the stainless steel lids pass salt or pepper well on mine. * Helpful Tip: Putting a few grains of uncooked rice in the salt shaker will absorb the moisture and retain the salt. loose.
