Review on ASUS XONAR SE 5.1 Channel 🔊 Hi-Res Sound Card with Windows 10 Compatibility by Joseph Morris

The DAC on this card appears to be of high quality and is indistinguishable from my expensive $100 card when using studio headphones for comparison. This card is great for playing and listening to FLAC files. with my THX speaker setup or studio headphones. What I like most about this card is the price, it competes with my expensive DAC with 2 main disadvantages: 1. The output volume of this card is very low even when set to 100% compared to onboard audio and others sound cards. When Xonar SE is set to 100%, it is 45% on other cards. I'm not sure if they will be able to update this in the future or not. I'm assuming it's hardware and not something they can upgrade, but we'll see.2. The sound card continued to default to headphones as the main output in WIndows 10 even when I only connected speakers. Setting default output to speakers has no effect after a reboot. My workaround was to disable all other output devices to force Windows 10 to use the speakers on that card. Overall I'm happy with the sound quality but not worth 5 stars until they fix these issues. I am the first review on Revain for this 116snr card so hopefully they can post an update to fix my 2 issues then I will update my review to a solid 5 stars.
