Luckily this device allowed me to recover files from my MacBook Air that wasn't working due to some hardware issue other than the SSD. After taking the drive out of my MacBook Air, I was able to put the SSD in this unit and connect it to the drive cloner/external dock. From there it connected to my other Mac like any other external drive and I was able to copy all my files, which worked better than I expected. In general I am satisfied, there are no problems, everything is carried out exactly as specified.
