Review on 🌳 Fiskars PowerGear2 394801-1003 Bypass Lopper - 32 Inch - Black/Orange by Sean Julian

Now I know how my dad felt when I did this to him because my boys lost my pruning shears. They shouldn't even be playing with the dangerous, deadly critters, but as I went to clear a fallen tree from the fence, "Where the hell's my spy scissors!?" For 11 years these old Fiskars have been grinding all threw, never served, insults heaped on insults and not a single complaint. And then they were gone. After a month of searching, I consoled myself with the thought that I could buy an even better pair! Well it isn't. They are barely enough to trim the ornamental shrubs around the house. Fiskar's "PowerGear2" nickname, positive reviews, and steep price point led me to believe they were built specifically for tough jobs. Ah, not like that! First task: I took her to the sea buckthorn grove and set to work. Instantly, small twigs would get stuck in the gear, wedge themselves completely, and require messy untangling. Much worse, in two hours of use the scissor blades came off 1/16 inch making it impossible to cut anything. In desperation, I began hitting the blades hard with a log instead of a hammer and a stump instead of an anvil. This caused the blades to buckle and I was able to continue my work, albeit more carefully. As anyone who's done a major hand removal knows, if you're in there a few hours sweaty, dehydrated, with a splitting head, back pain, tingling hands, scratches and bleeding - the last one! You need a tool that fails the first time! The brush is difficult to remove. So why are these pruning shears "hardly suitable" even for trimming ornamental shrubs around the house? Because the tips tend to detach on small branches. If you catch a small, dry branch with the top 1/2 inch of the blades (smaller than a straw) it won't cut, it just scrapes between the blades as they close over it. Come on Fiskars, you're used to being the best of the best, at the front of the line. What happened? Bring back the old PowerGear Loppers and trim your V2 from the line (ahem).
